We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Atlassian Applications Engineer (Systems Engineer) to join our team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the smooth operation and continuous improvement of our custom-built applications through effective use of Atlassian tools. You will be responsible for administering and enhancing our Atlassian environment, developing and maintaining custom scripts, and designing and managing CI/CD pipelines. As an Atlassian Systems Engineer, you will collaborate closely with development teams to understand their needs and provide technical support, solutions, and training. Your expertise in scripting languages, database management, and both Linux and Windows environments will be vital in optimizing our systems and workflows. Additionally, you will actively participate in Agile/Scrum or Kanban ceremonies and work with various Atlassian features to automate processes and improve productivity. Responsibilities include ensuring smooth operation and continuous improvement of custom-built addons and plugins; administering, enhancing, and optimizing Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, Bamboo) and SQL databases for high performance; developing and maintaining custom scripts using Adaptavist ScriptRunner and Groovy; designing, implementing, and managing CI/CD pipelines for efficient software delivery; providing technical support and solutions to development teams; collaborating with the Atlassian Change Committee on system changes and assisting in user training; participating in Agile/Scrum or Kanban ceremonies and creating Standard Operating Procedures for Incident Management, Disaster Recovery, and Escalations; developing IT Asset Management using “Assets” (formerly Insights); installing, updating, and maintaining Atlassian services in Linux and Windows environments; documenting developed scripts, workflows, and processes; resolving issues with Jira Projects and Confluence; building workflows and automation for self-serve Atlassian product usage; and other duties as assigned. Qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field or equivalent experience; solid understanding of Agile/Scrum and Kanban methodologies; proficiency in Git and CI/CD pipeline design; 2–5 years experience with Atlassian products; experience managing Atlassian plugins; proficiency in scripting languages such as Groovy, Bash, and PowerShell; strong programming skills in Java or Python; experience with Linux and Windows servers and databases; expertise with REST APIs and integration development; hands-on experience with Atlassian server and datacenter products; familiarity with Atlassian Cloud solutions; capability to design and optimize schema configurations; experience with scripting-based automation and custom plugin development; excellent communication skills; strong understanding of security best practices; knowledge of systems engineering protocols; and Atlassian certifications are highly desired.
